About Us

Nancy Byles and her late husband Charles purchased Northstar Glassworks in 2002. In 2006 Abe Fleishman moved from Bellingham, Washington to join forces with Nancy. Today we are a "family" of 18 with Abe and Nancy at the helm. The partnership between the two has flourished with the glass artist as the beneficiary. Nancy keeps the plant functioning while Abe combines his knowledge of chemistry with his love of glass blowing to develop new colors, products and tools that enable the artist to increase productivity and to enlarge the artistic possibilities. You will find him at as many glass shows and flame off events as time allows.

Nancy lives in Tigard and enjoys hiking in our beautiful Mt Hood forest and loves to walk everywhere and anywhere. Her vacationing is divided between Palm Desert California and New York City to visit her son and daughter-in-law and to cheer on the New York Yankees, of which she is a HUGE fan.

Abe lives in Oregon City and loves most to hang with his two active boys, Christian and Colbey. Recently, he has been working with Christian on the torch and is enjoying watching Christian’s quick mastering and enjoyment of the skill. Abe is an accomplished marble and glass pipe artist. He enjoys reggae music and participating in flame-off events.
